Music is a great entertainer of our soul. There are so many kinds of music. Folk music is a really popular music genre that all age people love to listen to. Folk song is the customary song of the lips of general people. These songs are sung in a traditional style of a community or country. It includes themes, words and tunes of the songs that have existed for a long time among the common people. In Bangladesh the appeal of folk songs is very acute. We have a rich history and collection of folk songs. Of them Palligiti, Bhatiali, Bhawaiya, Jari, Sari, Gambhira, Lalongiti, Palagaan and the songs of Hason Raja are very popular. These songs are generally played with traditional musical instruments. On many occasions in our country folk songs are sung by ‘baul’ with a great enthralling passion. Actually folk songs is a direct exposure of the joys and sorrows of daily life using simple and natural rythms. Our culture, festivals, views of life, natural beauty, rivers and rural and river-line life are expressed through folk songs. These songs are also about social inequality and poverty, about the material world and the supernatural. These songs are also about social inequality and poverty about the material world. However folk song is a valuable broach to us due to it’s exceptional artistic quality in the entire range of art. To save this valuable asset, an integral consciousness should remain ever present  in our mind.
